Boot Key Harbor

Adjacent to Marathon Key is a natural body of water called Boot Key Harbor. Boats can enter through two waterway access points and inlets into the harbor from the Atlantic Ocean. The western entrance has a controlled depth of about six feet at mean low water and is considered the main channel. The harbor is popular with boaters and sailboats due to its natural protections from the weather elements and is truly a beautiful place to stay with a boat when visiting this area of the Fl Keys.

From this vantage point, boaters and sport fishermen can reach all that this area has to offer in terms of fun and excitement on the water. One of the unique facts about this water harborage area is that it serves as shelter to a mooring field that holds 226 permanently attached mooring bouys. Each bouy in the harbor can hold boats and vessels up to 60' in length. The field at the Boot Key Harbor City Marina is N and E of the main channel, and is operated by the City of Marathon, FL. See the video below with tips on how to navigate this water.
